Hosted by VC’s own Biotic with DJ Backlash working the wheels, Northside’s MCs Truth and Direct from Grime Connoisseurs deliver just as it says on the label in round one of tonight’s shoot- out. Nuggy Gee guests on For The Raw Remix and as usual his vocals play boss across the mic, owning it again not long after winning full attention of a hundred deep, head-nodding to stand-out Day 2 Day Thing before hosting an impromptu freestyle sesh before Rezadent, the vet MC takes back a tight grip of the reigns spitting out a catalogue as far back as The Way Of The Intercepting Fist EP with beat work provided by Sammsonite and Crate Creeps alongside a swag of new readies with cohort and producer, femcee Meek Starkiller to a half-filled room.

Drink, smoke one and return to the sweatbox for Exit Strategy to headline the night, the ill few’s MCs Elaborate and Audacity with producer Insideus peel off the duration of Seventh Dimension in unrelenting shots ringing out for the longest set they’ve accomplished yet. DwizofOz makes a grand appearance, fresh off a support role for Kerser at Eaton Hills, representing 469, to unload his verse on Web Of Lies showing no half measures when he’s on the job. As Exit Strategy wraps up before midnight, the highlight rode out when Brisbane’s own Nate Dogg in Irrelevant joined the crew on stage to belt out the hook on Strategy – the lingering note that sings into Sunday morning. While the bar was slow and moody at best, the venue once again proved worthy for a raucous show-out of boom-bap.

Exit Strategy Announce Seventh Dimension Brisbane Album Launch!

Breathing the life of boom-bap back into the Boomtown scene, Brisbane’s own Exit Strategy have been on their no-way-out grind for some time now and are set to bare teeth for the launch of their debut album Seventh Dimension which promises that they ain’t going anywhere any time soon.

In celebration of their new album, the trio from Exit Strategy are primed to headline a massive live and loaded showcase of hip-hop on the evening of Saturday, 20 February at South Brisbane’s Milk Factory brought to you by Ozhiphopshop.com and Velvet Couch Clothing.

Seventh Dimension follows on from the well-earned success of their first EPs Disclosure Project and Preliminaries produced by Insideus (from Shire Studios) whose boom-bap production returns for the new album with cut-ups by DJ Backlash to accompany the cut-throat wordplay and verbal dexterity of Exit Strategy as they narrate the harsh terrain of the Sunshine State’s gritty underbelly. On the live market Exit Strategy have kept their noses to the grind supporting international legends; Masta Ace, RA The Rugged Man, Chester P, High Focus Records and local luminaries Trem and Lazy Grey.

The impending album launch promises to let off a full-clip of real hip-hop homegrown and down from day one. Sharing the bill with Exit Strategy will be a gang of snub-nosed straight shooters from the Bris-Bang scene with longtime cohort Rezadent (Change The Tape collective) who also features on the new album, Nuggy Gee (Crate Of Mind EP), Grime Connoisseurs and Pauly B to ensure no hits are missed and that everyone gets buckwild in an evening of unadulterated live hip-hop not to be ducked and dived.

Put on at one of Brisbane’s most up-and-coming and live music venues, The Milk Factory is a fully licensed and intimate joint situated at 48 Montague Road, South Brisbane (opposite Paul’s Milk factory). Be sure to come down Saturday night, 20 February to be involved and witness the Exit Strategy album launch in a full night of events for just $10 entry on the door.
